Baby blues and herbs

There are some herbs that can help women deal with baby blues. Lemon balm leaves are particularly useful for baby blues. It helps treat depression, irritability and melancholy. It can be taken as an infusion or tea or in combination with milk or honey. Blessed thistle leaves are widely used to treat post partum depression. It is bitter but highly effective.

It can be used as a herbal tea, infusion or tincture. Red raspberry leaves can also help with baby blues since it helps balance hormone levels. Nettle and Alfalfa can also help with this condition. They work by improving overall health and well being. These herbs are rich in vitamins and minerals and thus boost health. Licorice root is particularly useful in balancing out hormone levels.

This may help reduce depression that is associated with hormonal changes. Rosemary is also a good herb for depression. It is particularly useful for new mothers since it increases milk flow and supplies a good dose of calcium for the body. If tiredness and exhaustion is associated with baby blues, herbs like chamomile flowers, motherwort, and skull cap can help.
