Knowing the condition anhedonia

Anhedonia is a medical term for the inability of a person to experience joy and feel pleasure in life.  People suffering from this condition fail to enjoy their life amidst the regular pleasurable activities. Irrespective of the kind of situation that a patient is exposed to, he fails to enjoy and feel the pleasure of the activities.

Anhedonia is not just a disease, but symptoms of different types of diseases. The commonly associated symptoms of anhedonia are schizophrenia and depression.  People having chronic insomnia might as well develop anhedonia over time. Similarly, people abusing drugs can also develop the condition during withdrawal.

There are no proper evidences to support the case of anhedonia and the condition itself. It has been identified that people with anhedonia fail to process dopamine well, which is a neurotransmitter of the brain, primarily responsible for the feelings of pleasure and joy.

The symptoms of anhedonia must be understood and taken seriously as well, as it can lead to more complicated and frustrating conditions if left untreated. As pleasure isn’t a necessity all the time people often overlook the symptoms of the condition. However, it will be wise to address the condition and treat it immediately before it takes the form of a more significant health concern
