Conditions Moclobemide Treats

Moclobemide is primarily used as an anti-depressant. It has been mostly used to cure major depressive illness. In studies that were done to test and compare the efficiency of similar anti-depressants, Moclobemide’s efficiency was established at par with those of other TCAs, or tricyclic anti-depressants, and as more effectual as compared to the effects.

However, its efficacy turned to be lesser than the traditional, stronger and irreversible MAOIs like phenelzine, but it was better tolerated within the body as compared to the TCAs and the MAOIs.
Used in combination with demethyltryptamine or DMT, Moclobemide is used for many other purposes. it was found that orally taken DMT was ineffectual, owing to its rapid metabolism by the enzymes present in the mouth and the esophagus. Moclobemide inhibited these enzymes, and with its combination DMT has been used in drinks in South America.

In addition, Moclobemide has been used for the treatment of anxiety, especially social anxiety disorders. It has often been used and proved effective in condition where the patient experiences dysfunctional emotions, and undergoes CBT. Recent studies being increasingly done on Moclobemide have also revealed that it its efficacy is not below other drugs in the treatment of various types of atypical, endogenous, or depression.
