Infertility is always associated with a number of tests as well as multiple treatments. These all require sufficient amount of money. Thus, it causes a financial strain. This may contribute in being depressed. The thought of not being blessed with a child proves the most depressing thought of infertility. It is even more severe in the cases of infertile men.
Men usually do not get the required emotional support while they struggle with infertility. Their loneliness serves as a trigger to depression. There is a swing in the moods because of infertility. You can find yourself hopeful one day but the next day you may be frustrated or angry. As per the recent studies, ten percent of the infertile men experience some or the other type of depression. The depression suffered is similar to those suffered in the cases of patients of AIDS and cancer. Men not receiving any sympathy and support from partner or family are more prone to such depressions.
Extreme depression can affect the living style, working style, personal relations, and bring about a feeling of worthlessness. Finally these symptoms may lead the person to commit suicide. Therefore it is essential for the partner as well as the family members to provide the required emotional support to the patient.
