Depression due to lack of sleep

Lack of sleep alone does not cause depression. However, it plays a role in causing depression. If there is lack in sleep because of some other illness, it can worsen the depression. A depressed person shows the symptoms of sleeping for a longer period of time or oversleeping. The depression caused by lack of sleep is known as clinical depression. Clinical depression is basically a disorder regarding the mood.

It generates the feeling of hopelessness, sadness, worthlessness and all other feelings of depression. A person in this condition requires the restorative state, i.e. normal sleep. Hence, when normal sleep is disrupted, it leads to tension, irritability. the treatment of clinical depression depends on the severity of the disorder. The talk therapy along with the anti depressants proves to be effective.

The anti depressants help in decreasing the depression. It reduces the feelings of hopelessness, sadness. Simultaneously, the talking therapy helps in developing skills that can enable us to sleep properly. It also can prevent any future episode of depression. However, having certain home remedies can also avoid depression due to lack of sleep. Meditation, regular exercising and reading are some of such remedies. Not getting addicted to any drug or alcohol is a good way to keep off depression due to lack of sleep.
