The other name of social phobia is social anxiety. This is generally a disorder that does appear with irresistible anxiety as well as excessive consciousness in the day to day activities. The sufferers of this disorder do have a continuous fear of being watched by someone. They always suffer from the trauma of being humiliated or embarrassed by any one’s comment up on their own activities.
This fear can be severe enough to noticeably hamper the daily activities. The chronic fear caused by social phobia leads to depression. The fear of being embarrassed avoids the patients from doing their desirable things. For example one patient of social phobia is quite fond of dancing. However, he or she will never be able to fulfill his or her desire without fear.
The worry of the dance competition would start lingering in the mind of the patients several weeks before the commencement of the dance competition. As a result the patient will be quite depressed. The constant fear leads to certain physical conditions like sweating, anxiety, and trembling. As a result of increased nervousness, the patient may have to face certain embarrassment in the society. Therefore, all these consequences of social phobia lead to depression.
