Nortriptyline - How To Take Nortriptyline

Nortriptyline is obtained in two forms in capsule form and also in oral liquid form; this drug can be taken up to four times a day according to the doctor’s prescription. This drug can be prescribed in amounts of 10 mg, 25 mg, 50 mg or 75 mg, per day by adults with or without taking food. Do not take over the dosage prescribed or less of a dose than prescribed. The doses have to be taken at same interval of time and unless prescribed by the doctor follow the normal diet.

Always take the dosage as prescribed by the doctor, do not stop the dosage without consulting the doctor even if you feel better, because you may experience symptoms of depression or some problems like headache, weakness and nausea. Should these symptoms occur then consult the doctor immediately. He may reduce the amount of your dosage; this drug should not be taken associated with alcohol because it make you drowsy.

Nortriotyline associated with other drugs like MAO, Marplan, Parnate or any other drug may cause additional side effects, which the doctor should be aware of prior to prescribing this antidepressant for the best results to treat depression disorders.
